Fred Ferraro was raised in the small town of Wales, Massachusetts. He grew up in the countryside, fishing in Lake George and playing basketball behind the elementary school. He attended Anna Maria College in Paxton, Mass., where he met his wife of 37 years. They have three wonderful daughters and now have four grandchildren. Fred worked at MassMutual Financial Group for 33 years, serving in various leadership roles. He retired in 2021. He volunteers for several organizations, including the Knights of Columbus. His favorite volunteer job, though, is that of grandfather.

Fred wrote his first book after feeling God prompted him to help other Christians by sharing the many tips he had learned about his Catholic faith. After attending numerous conferences, watching countless videos, reading many fantastic books, and speaking with numerous faithful people, he had much to share.  This, combined with his business need to set goals and continually improve, made the book effective for those who read it.

Later, he wrote two full-length screenplays. Writing a screenplay involves learning the very rigid rules of screenplay formatting. Unfortunately, Fred also learned that absolutely no one will see your story or vision unless the screenplay is made into a movie. He decided to turn his fun children’s story about three sisters who gain superpowers into a novelette (Little Flowers – Sisters with Superpowers). His blessing, or curse, as a writer is that he can see the scenes unfolding in his head.  Whole scenes with dialogue develop in his mind, and if the pull is strong enough, he feels compelled to put it on paper and share it. That led to his venture into a new genre – a fantasy/romance novel (The Adventures of Prince Erik).

Fred has learned that there is so much he does not know, so much to learn. He is currently trying to read all the Caldecott Award-winning books. He is also attending regular online writing workshops and listening to podcasts about the craft of storytelling.  He has more stories to tell – so stay tuned!
